Sergio Belli began his maritime career in 1998 at Kvaerner Masa-Yards’ Helsinki shipyard.

His time at the yard provided a strong practical foundation in the maritime industry, with direct exposure to shipbuilding, outfitting and commissioning, including work onboard vessels through their pre-delivery sea trials in the Gulf of Finland. In parallel, he pursued graduate studies in Europe, earning a Master’s degree in Maritime Economics and adding a commercial and economic dimension to his operational background.

He joined MSC in 2004 in Operations, where he developed extensive experience across vessel, cargo and port activities. In 2010, he transitioned into a commercial role, bringing with him a strong operational foundation developed through years of direct exposure to vessels and port operations.

He subsequently moved into Export Trades, taking on increasing responsibility for trade management, commercial strategy and market development before becoming Assistant Vice President for Export Trades, with responsibility for the commercial and strategic development of MSC’s US export business.
